Top 10 torrent sites!

Last year I posted the best p2p software clients and here again I've listed the world's most popular BitTorrent sites. At the start of 2012 The Pirate Bay continues to pull in the most visitors, followed by Torrentz and KickassTorrents.

This list is based on traffic rank and reports from Compete and Alexa, though we are all aware that Alexa isn't perfect and that Compete has plenty of flaws, but putting the two services to use at the same time on similar niche proved worthwhile.

So here we are, a compiled list of the 10 most-visited torrent sites at the start of the new year.

1. The Pirate Bay

The Pirate Bay (commonly abbreviated TPB) is a Swedish website that hosts magnet links, which allow users to share electronic files, including music, computer games and software, via BitTorrent. The Pirate Bay bills itself as "The world's most resilient BitTorrent site" (as of 2012, "The galaxy's most resilient...") The Pirate Bay is currently ranked as the 78th most visited website in the world and 20th in Sweden by Alexa Internet, has over 5.5 million registered users and, as of February 2012, hosts more than 4 million torrent files. According to the Los Angeles Times, The Pirate Bay is "one of the world's largest facilitators of illegal downloading" and "the most visible member of a burgeoning international anti-copyright or pro-piracy movement".

2. Torrentz

Torrentz is a Finland-based[2] meta-search engine for BitTorrent that is run by an individual known as Flippy. It indexes torrents from various major torrent sites such as yourBittorrent and offers compilations of various trackers per torrent that are not necessarily present in the default .torrent file, so that when a tracker is down, other trackers can do the work. It was the second most popular torrent website after The Pirate Bay in 2010[3], and it currently has a traffic rank of 145 on Alexa.

10. Google Googles: This app will allow you to take a picture of any object, submit it to be analyzed by the Google search engines and will then send you a search results page for the object that it thinks you are looking it.

9. RAC Traffic: RAC Traffic uses your cell phone signal to estimate your location and provides you with traffic alerts for your local area.

Google Glasses: Magic or Overdose?

Google on Wednesday unveiled its “Project Glass,” augmented reality glasses that will be able to display chats, maps and more. The Verge says that it seems like the glasses are “past the concept phase.”  Well the video posted by google surely makes us wonder about how beautiful our future is going to be with such awesome sci-fi movie type glasses doin all the work, no need for even smartphone or tablets! Well my first reaction to the video was no different than anyone's - 'Awesome man!' or 'Google rocks!' All gadget geeks out there have dreamed of having such gadgets seen in movies. But after thinking for a while i figured out that was this really making our future better or just another example of technology overdose in our already maddening world!
Google's Project Glass is really really great...for porn
Well the question that arrives is that How much technology do we need to make our life simpler or stay better connected?! We are already living in a fast paced world where everyday we see new innovations being launched to make our life simpler and make us more and more depended on them! Not to mention the iPads and iPhones which are frankly speaking not always bought for convenience but more for a style statement.
Well no doubt if these glasses are launched there would be a huge rush to buy these magic glasses. But these glasses instead of improving our connectivity would just snap our relation with the real world not to mention the increasing number of couch potatoes already due to such gadgets!

Browser Wars!

You're spoiled for choice these days when it comes to choosing a Web browser—all of the big names are viable choices, and, if you don't like the big three there's always Safari and Opera, too. Which one is right for you? My rankings given below -
1) Google Chrome OS  Google Chrome 12
Chrome Instant means your Web page is ready to read before you finish typing the address. On top of this parlor trick, Chrome's speed, minimalist design, and advanced support for HTML5 have deservedly been attracting more and more users to the browser. The latest version adds an improved settings interface, and even more speed and security.
