Google Glasses: Magic or Overdose?

Google on Wednesday unveiled its “Project Glass,” augmented reality glasses that will be able to display chats, maps and more. The Verge says that it seems like the glasses are “past the concept phase.”  Well the video posted by google surely makes us wonder about how beautiful our future is going to be with such awesome sci-fi movie type glasses doin all the work, no need for even smartphone or tablets! Well my first reaction to the video was no different than anyone's - 'Awesome man!' or 'Google rocks!' All gadget geeks out there have dreamed of having such gadgets seen in movies. But after thinking for a while i figured out that was this really making our future better or just another example of technology overdose in our already maddening world!
Google's Project Glass is really really great...for porn
Well the question that arrives is that How much technology do we need to make our life simpler or stay better connected?! We are already living in a fast paced world where everyday we see new innovations being launched to make our life simpler and make us more and more depended on them! Not to mention the iPads and iPhones which are frankly speaking not always bought for convenience but more for a style statement.
Well no doubt if these glasses are launched there would be a huge rush to buy these magic glasses. But these glasses instead of improving our connectivity would just snap our relation with the real world not to mention the increasing number of couch potatoes already due to such gadgets!

"There is a lot of data about the world that would be great if more people had access to as they are walking down the street," said Jason Tester, research director at the nonprofit Institute For the Future in Palo Alto, California. That said, "once that information is not only at our fingertips but literally in our field of view, it may become too much."
Always-on smartphones with their constant Twitter feeds, real-time weather updates andAngry Birds games are already leaving people with a sense of information overload. But at least you can put your smartphone away. Having all that in front of your eyes could become too much.
Well lets see if Google  really launches this according to me - 'useless'  product! well sure it seems good in the video..but c'mon! we cant believe on such videos! And what more can we expect from google who are already working also on driving human-less cars! what next?! well lets wait and watch...meanwhile you can surely enjoy the many parodies that surely will come out! bring in on! :)
