The Tablet-Boom in India…

There has been a lot of talk about portable computing devices in the recent years especially tablets. The iPad and the Samsung galaxy tab have sure been the leasders in the race with amazon kindle fire and many others follwing them. But iIndia the trend seems to go the dofferent way. Ever since Kapil Sibbal launched the aakash tab or the ubislate there has been a race among the low cost tablets in india which is now at its peak with tablets being launched almost everyday. It seems as if tablets no longer will reain a luxury but a tool for the common man, and that can surely change lives! To add to my point it was recently said

"Apple Will Maintain Tablet Market Dominance in the Short Term, Low Cost Segment to Take 60% by 2016, Says ABI Research"

Well it sure seems so considering the 30,000 price tag of the iPad and the below 10,000 price tag of the other low cost tablets! If talking about low cost tablets lets take a look at some of them -

Aakash Tab (ubislate)

  • The tablet runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo).

Spice Mi-720

  • The budget tablet category seems to be getting hotter. The last few weeks have seen a slew of tablets launched in the category, the latest entrant is Spice Mi-720.
  • Spice Mi-720 runs on Android platform and is available for purchase with online retailer Letsbuy. The device is priced at Rs 11,990.

Bsnl Penta T-Pad IS 701Rbsnl tab
  • With so many low cost tablets in the market, BSNL hopped into the train with the promising Penta T-Pad IS 701R.
  • It has a ARM11 IMAP210, 1GHZ processor which is quite impressive and runs on Android 2.3.
  • It features a 256MB DDR RAM and 23000mAh battery.
  • This impressive device with an additional HDMI port, USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 800×600 px screen is priced at an affordable price of Rs. 3,200.
And to add to this list 2 new tablets were launched last week -Zync launched the cheapest Android Ice Cream Sandwich seven-inch tablet at Rs 8,990 while Intex Technologies launched i-Tab, an eight-inch Android tablet priced at Rs 11,900.
Well, seeing so many tablets it can surely be said that the days of the iPad are coming to an end the here is the time for the new Low Cost Tablet Generation! Well surely the rich might still prefer the iPads and the Galaxy Tabs but the target for the low cost tabs is much bigger and surely this is the main reason companies are stressing more on low cost products. So when are you buying one?
